Although the medina, tucked away in the centre of Marrakech, seems hectic, dusty and uninviting, any visitor to the city has to stay in this area to get a real feel for the traditions of this exotic country.
An uneven, dusty road leads up to the huge, wrought iron door of the riad. As soon as the door opened, the hotel is like a haven of peace and tranquility. Simply decorated with traditional Moroccan drapes and lanterns around a courtyard, the riad is intimate, charming and beautiful.
To/from the airport
The hotel includes transfers by standard car to and from Marrakech airport at an additional rate and the journey takes about twenty minutes.
Location, location, location
The location is great and only about a 5-10 minute walk to the famous main square: Djamaa El Fna.
The rooms
The rooms are fairly small but adequately sized and always clean. And the shower is a little stone cave with a space at the top where the mist collects into a cloud.
The food
Experience a traditional Moroccan breakfast on the roof terrace, which has panoramic views over the city with the Atlas mountains surrounding the area like a protective fortress.
Special touches
The service at this place is impeccable. After I returned from an outing, the maids had folded all of my clothes and put my shoes into little compartments. They even scattered rose petals on the bed and in the bathroom.
